On October 8, the WTO formally commenced the method for appointing its subsequent Director-Normal.
The method will likely be led by Ambassador Petter Ølberg of Norway, the Chair of the Normal Council, in accordance with the WTO’s “Procedures for the Appointment of Administrators-Normal”.
Ambassador Ølberg issued a statement on October 4, indicating that WTO members supported an early begin of the method forward of the initially deliberate schedule.
