It’s with our deepest condolences that we announce the passing of former Broward County Supervisor of Elections, Dr. Brenda Calhoun Snipes.
Dr. Snipes started her profession as a instructor at Blanche Ely Excessive College after being recruited to return to Broward County from Talladega, Alabama by then Principal, Mrs. Blanche G. Ely. She moved via the training ranks serving as a instructor of scholars from elementary via grownup and vocational training. In 2003, she retired from a profitable 40-year profession as an educator and administrator culminating as an space director liable for main principals at 16 faculties and facilities in Broward County.
When Dr. Snipes was referred to as upon by then Governor Jeb Bush to serve her neighborhood once more, she accepted an appointment because the Broward County Supervisor of Elections. She was then elected and re-elected three-times by Broward County voters permitting her to serve the Broward County neighborhood for an extra 15 years. Dr. Snipes retired because the Broward County Supervisor of Elections in 2019.
Dr. Snipes strongly believed within the significance of training and labored arduous to encourage younger voters to train their civic obligation. Underneath her tenure, the Broward County Supervisor of Elections workplace obtained a National Award for its partnership with Broward County Colleges. Her trailblazing partnership with Broward County Colleges continues to be in impact, permitting 1000’s of youngsters to pre-register to vote.
