Reggae musician, educator, and founding member of Reggae band Third World, Michael “Ibo” Cooper, has died.
Based on experiences, the 71-year-old musician had been ailing for a while.
Cooper’s loss of life comes months after his son, famed Jamaican disc jockey Arif Cooper died out of the blue in March.

He was member of the reggae band Internal Circle and founding member of the reggae band Third World.
Third World was initially shaped in 1973 by Cooper, a keyboardist, and guitarist/cellist Steven “Cat” Coore. Cooper left the band in 1997.
Cooper later served as head of the Caribbean, Latin American and jazz division, now referred to as Common Music Research, on the Edna Manley Faculty of the Visible and Performing Arts in Kingston. He was additionally chairman of the Jamaica Reggae Business Affiliation (JARIA).
In 2005, he alongside his former band mate Coore had obtained the Order of Distinction, within the rank of Officer (OD), for his or her contribution to the event of Jamaican music.
