A mixed effort by regulation enforcement companies led to the arrest of 5 people suspected of involvement in a human trafficking ring in Suriname.
The arrests have been made by officers from the Trafficking In Individuals (TIP) unit, Intelligence from the Combating Severe Crime construction (BZC), and Area West.
Studies are that the operation was initiated when a international nationwide approached the Bikers Unit in Paramaribo.
She revealed her escape from a bar-dancing venue, the place she was pressured into intercourse work. This revelation prompted the TIP unit to launch an investigation.
Misleading practices in Nickerie District
Through the investigation, the police found that the girl, along with 11 others from Cuba and two from Venezuela, have been housed in a bar dancing within the Nickerie district to carry out intercourse work.
Deceptively lured to Suriname, these victims have been lodged in rooms linked to the bar. They have been obligated to pay for his or her lodging and to entertain purchasers, with the income generated going on to the membership’s proprietor.
Raid and rescue
With collaborative efforts from different regulation enforcement companies, the Nickerie venue was pinpointed and raided.
This raid resulted within the rescue of 13 ladies from Venezuela and Cuba, who have been subsequently positioned in a protecting shelter.
It was revealed that their journey bills to Suriname had been footed by the membership proprietor.
Group of suspects
Studies are that three suspects have been arrested in the course of the raid and the fourth and fifth suspects have been subsequently arrested.
