Jamaica’s 2023 Competition Tune album has been submitted for Grammy consideration.
The island’s Minister of Tradition, Gender, Leisure, and Sport, Olivia Grange, introduced that the album is now being reviewed by eligible voting members of the Recording Academy whose votes will decide the nominees within the Reggae class.
The nominees will likely be introduced in November.
“That is the third 12 months that the Competition Tune album is being thought-about for Grammy nomination since we’ve reorganized and revitalized the competitors,” Grange stated in an announcement.
The competitors has been a conventional and long-standing function since 1966. Since 2020, the highest songs from the competitors have been collated as an album and launched on a number of streaming companies.
“We’re delighted by this chance to showcase, spotlight, and rejoice our Competition contestants and stay optimistic that the Competition Tune album will likely be one of many nominees as a result of there are excellent songs on the album,” Grange added.
