The US (US) Coast Guard says it has interdicted 100 Haitian migrants, seized an estimated 500 kilos of cocaine and intercepted eight suspected drug smugglers throughout a 55-day maritime security and safety patrol within the Caribbean Sea.
“The migrants have been endangered by the unsafe situations aboard their grossly overloaded and unseaworthy vessel earlier than being rescued by the coast guard,” the US Coast Guard stated.
It stated the crew additionally coordinated post-seizure operations after the Royal Netherlands Navy intercepted eight suspected drug smugglers and interdicted 503 kilos of cocaine value an estimated worth of US$6.8 million.
The coast guard stated the joint-operations with the Royal Netherlands Navy “served to strengthen ties with worldwide companions, and promote regional stability and safety”.
