The U.S. Embassy in Grenada celebrated Caribbean American Heritage Month on June 21, recognizing the wealthy cultural contributions and historic contributions made to the US by individuals of Caribbean heritage.
The U.S. Embassy visited Eva Louis in Grand Bras, the oldest surviving relative of Malcolm X in Grenada, presenting her with a fruit basket in acknowledgment of Malcolm X’s profound impression on international social justice actions.
Frances Herrera, Principal Officer of the U.S. Embassy in Grenada, highlighted the significance of such initiatives, stating, “Via efforts like this, the U.S. Embassy goals to advertise better cultural understanding and appreciation for the contributions of Caribbean People to our society.”
The occasion emphasised the enduring ties between Caribbean heritage and the worldwide quest for justice and equality, spotlighting Malcolm X’s enduring affect in inspiring generations by his steadfast dedication to civil rights, equality, and empowerment.
