Videsh Chandoo, 44, was sentenced on June 26 within the U.S. District Court docket for the Southern District of Florida to 18 months in jail, adopted by three years of supervised launch. A joint investigation adopted, involving the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, U.S. Customs and Border Safety (CBP), the Diplomatic Safety Service, and a number of U.S. federal companies.
Chandoo, who was not extradited, voluntarily traveled to the U.S. in January 2025 to face costs with the help of the U.S. Embassy in Port of Spain. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Lawyer David Snider.
