Professor Sir Hilary Beckles, Vice-Chancellor of The College of the West Indies has hailed the latest signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with South Africa’s North-West College as “historic and emotional”.
Commenting on the partnership between The UWI and North-West College, he referenced the Caribbean’s shut bond with South Africa, saying, “…we have been within the trenches with you within the struggle in opposition to Apartheid”.
Vice-Chancellor Beckles pointed to similarities between the 2 universities being multi-campus academies, noting that The UWI serves throughout 5 campuses and North-West possesses three.
