UNITED KINGDOM – The timeless music of Gregory Isaacs crammed the Hackney Empire in east London on Could 25. This event marked the start of The Cool Ruler: The Musical’s eight-show run in the UK.
Written and produced by Jamaican playwright Anton Phillips, the play is impressed by the legendary singer’s life. Isaacs, finest identified for songs like Night time Nurse and Quickly Ahead, died in London in October, 2010 at age 60.
Over 3,000 followers attended the opening of The Cool Ruler: The Musical. Notable attendees included Isaacs’ spouse June Isaacs and his former supervisor Copeland Forbes. Different attendees had been singer Tarrus Riley, saxophonist Dean Fraser, and Alexander Williams. Williams is Jamaica’s Excessive Commissioner to the UK.
