    Thanksgiving Harvest at Fenimore Church – Caribbean Life

    Congregants at Fenimore Avenue United Methodist Church in Brooklyn on Nov. 19 celebrated their annual Thanksgiving Harvest with a two-hour Worship Service, giving because of Almighty God for his many blessings.

    The service, held on the 25th Sunday after Pentecost, featured the total participation of the congregation, with lofty singing, praying, scripture studying and preaching.

    Days earlier than, the Decorations Committee totally embellished the church in Harvest colours, and positioned items baskets across the altar and on the pulpit to be distributed to much less lucky church members and members of the group usually.

    The Sunday Faculty youngsters made a presentation earlier than the congregation sang “Bringing within the Sheaves,” and the Reward Staff evoked many teary eyes with prolonged worship, singing, amongst different songs and hymns, “Be Positive to Say Thank You.”

    Bro. Jeffrey Adolphus, the church’s former organist, visiting from his native Belize, performed the Mixed Choir with a spiritually-uplifting rendition, “Give Thanks.”

    Afterwards, the African American Pastor, the Rev. Roger Jackson, delivered a riveting sermon on “A God of Expectations”, basing his textual content on “The Parable of the Abilities,” Matthew 25: 14-30.

    It says partially: “For the Kingdom of Heaven is as a person touring right into a far nation, who known as his personal servants, and delivered unto them his items. And onto one, he gave the 5 abilities, to a different two, and to a different one; to each man in line with his a number of potential; and straightway took his journey.

    “And so, he that had acquired 5 abilities got here and introduced different 5 abilities, saying Lord, thou deliveredst unto me 5 abilities; behold, I’ve gained moreover them 5 abilities extra,” the scripture continues. “His Lord stated unto him, properly thou good and devoted servant; thou hast been devoted over a couple of issues, I’ll make thee ruler over many issues: enter thou into the enjoyment of thy Lord…”

    Stating that the parables are “illustrations informed by Jesus Christ,” Rev. Jackson stated that “what they stated right here is that others should not doing the issues, which Jesus presents us. The religious lesson is that God blesses us with a lot of items. God expects us to make use of our skills. Jesus is aware of our skills.

    “God has a season for us,” he stated. “Go ye into the world, and the Season of Harvest will come again into his church. God is asking you; discover and search issues you are able to do.

    “Younger individuals are taking cues from us,” Rev. Jackson added. “This textual content is about harvest – harvesting our soul, harvesting our items.”

    Although the complete Worship Service was devoted to Thanksgiving Harvest, the recessional hymn reminded and accentuated to everybody that “Each Day is a Day of Thanksgiving.”
