CASTRIES, St. Lucia, CMC -Opposition Chief Allen Chastanet Tuesday stated he’s “deeply honored” to have been appointed to the board of the Worldwide Democrat Union (IDU), a world alliance dedicated to advancing the values of freedom, democracy, and human dignity.
“This appointment is just not about me; it’s a mirrored image of what St. Lucia and the Caribbean can supply the world. We could also be small in dimension, however we’re mighty in spirit, in concepts, and in our unwavering perception in a greater tomorrow,” Chastanet stated in a press release posted on his Fb web page.
“I stay up for working with leaders from world wide to proceed championing freedom, dignity, and alternative for all,” he added.
The opposition United Staff Celebration (UWP) stated Chastanet’s appointment is an amazing honor and that “he now joins a choose group of world leaders working collectively to advance the ideas of democracy, freedom, and good governance internationally.”
The Germany-based IDU is an alliance of 84 center-right political events from 65 nations. It was based in 1983 because the umbrella group for the European Democrat Union (EDU), the Caribbean Democrat Union (CDU), and the Asia-Pacific Democratic Union (APDU).
“Chastanet’s choice to its management is a testomony to his imaginative and prescient, expertise, and credibility on the worldwide stage. As one of many few leaders from the Caribbean to carry such a place, he brings a vital regional voice to international conversations on improvement, management, and democratic integrity,” the UWP stated.
