    St. Lucia assumes chair of CIDI – Caribbean Life

    The Group of American States (OAS) says that the Everlasting Consultant of St. Lucia Elizabeth Darius-Clarke on Thursday assumed the chair of the OAS’s Inter-American Council for Integral Growth (CIDI).

    Throughout a ceremony, held at OAS headquarters in Washington, D.C., Amb. Darius-Clarke, who will maintain the place till December 2024, emphasised that, “The function of CIDI is vital in guaranteeing that our work inside the OAS stays geared towards sustainable improvement and the elimination of utmost poverty in our Hemisphere. 

    “As St. Lucia assumes the Chair of CIDI, we wholeheartedly assist the prioritization of hemispheric connectivity on this Group,” she mentioned. 

    Everlasting Consultant of St. Kitts and Nevis to the OAS, and outgoing CIDI chair, Amb. Jacinth Henry-Martin, mentioned that, throughout her reign, “we chosen the theme with the buzzwords: connectivity, know-how, financial resiliency. 

    “Connectivity and know-how underpin all sides of our lives, from well being to safety to training, each engine of financial development,” she mentioned. “And so, I say to you, please proceed to work arduously to make sure that our individuals are given the instruments that they want to have the ability to higher their very own lives and to have the ability to higher the lives of future generations.” 

    The OAS mentioned the vice chair for the second time period of the 12 months shall be exercised by the Everlasting Consultant of Costa Rica, Amb. Alejandra Solano, who takes over from outgoing vice chair and Everlasting Consultant of Dominica, Amb. Steve Ferrol. 

    The chair of CIDI rotates each six months in line with alphabetical order in Spanish.
