The College of the West Indies (UWI) will confer 13 honorary levels throughout its 5 campuses in the course of the 2024 commencement ceremonies, going down from October 12 to November 9.
These prestigious levels will acknowledge important contributions from people in varied fields comparable to advocacy, sports activities, tradition, enterprise, medication, and music.
Among the many honorees are 4 outstanding Jamaicans set to obtain honorary doctorates on the Mona Campus ceremonies from October 31 to November 2.
Pollster Donald Anderson, music pioneer Monte Blake, VM Group CEO Courtney Campbell, and bauxite business knowledgeable Dr. Conrad Douglas are among the many distinguished people being acknowledged. Anderson will obtain a Physician of Legal guidelines (LLD) for his work as an entrepreneur, market researcher, and sports activities administrator, whereas Blake might be honored with a Physician of Letters (DLitt) for his pioneering contributions to music.
Campbell can even obtain an LLD for his management and philanthropic efforts, and Dr. Douglas might be acknowledged with an LLD for his contributions to the event of the bauxite business.

This 12 months’s honorary levels can even be offered at UWI’s different campuses. On the 5 Islands Campus in Antigua, cricket icon Sir Curtly Ambrose might be awarded a Physician of Legal guidelines (LLD), alongside human rights advocate His Excellency Ambassador Dr. W. Aubrey Webson. On the Cave Hill Campus in Barbados, honorees will embrace Dame Susan Dougan for her public service and Ralph Taylor for his work within the tourism sector. The St. Augustine Campus in Trinidad and Tobago will honor medical professionals Dr. Maniram Ragbir and Dr. Patricia Rodney.
Sir Trevor Hassell (Barbados) will obtain a Physician of Science (DSc) for contributions to medication whereas The Most Honourable Elton Elombe Mottley (Barbados) will obtain a Physician of Letters (DLitt) for contributions to tradition and the humanities.
The ceremonies will culminate on November 9 at UWI’s World Campus, the place Grenadian Olympic sprinter Kirani James will obtain an LLD for his excellent achievements in athletics.
