    Richards gets elite athlete funding – Caribbean Life

    Olympian Jereem Richards has been awarded TT$187,500 by the Ministry of Sport and Neighborhood Growth.

    This funding, which is awarded beneath the Elite Athlete Help Programme (EAAP) and is aligned with the Nationwide Sport Coverage, is designed to assist athletes like Richards cowl the price of coaching, worldwide competitors charges, journey and different important bills.

    Like different athletes, the ministry has constantly supported Richards’ athletic improvement which allowed him to efficiently compete on the worldwide stage.

    A launch from the Sports activities Ministry said that the cheque was offered by David Roberts, appearing everlasting secretary of the Ministry of Sport and Neighborhood Growth on the ministry’s head workplace in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad.

    Below the Elite Athlete programme, Richards was awarded $187,500 in 2020/2021. In 2021/2022, he acquired $250,000 and in 2022/2023, he was awarded $250,000.

    Moreover, between 2021 and 2024, Richards acquired a complete of $819,000 beneath the Nationwide Rewards and Incentives Framework for his efficiency at varied worldwide occasions such because the World Indoor Championships the place he gained a gold medal, his two gold medal performances on the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Video games and two gold medals on the 2023 Central America and Caribbean Video games.

    Minister of Sport and Neighborhood Growth Shamfa Cudjoe-Lewis stated: “Jereem’s efficiency on the latest Paris 2024 Olympics Video games and his subsequent bronze medal on the Diamond League, confirmed true grit and a dedication to succeed.”
