To honor the contributions and the transcendent impacts of Rev. Dr. Jose E. Hernandez in our South Florida communities Commissioner McGhee, joined by the Agape neighborhood, will host a Avenue and Constructing Naming Ceremony on Friday, September 27, beginning at 10 a.m. on the Agape Community Most important Campus, 22790 SW 112th Ave., Miami, FL 33170.
Dr. Hernandez has selflessly devoted his life to being a steward to his neighborhood, tackling the battle towards medicine and crime in our society, encouraging neighborhood members by means of tenacious efforts, and, most significantly, by means of religion. In 1983, Dr. Hernandez based South Florida Jail Ministries and Agape Network, a nationally accredited neighborhood well being heart and rehabilitation facility. He has served as Agape Community’s Govt Director since its inception. He has been acknowledged for his unbelievable work that has left an indelible mark in District 9 and all through the County. A portion of Southwest 227th Avenue between Southwest 112th Place and Southwest 112th Avenue shall be named “Dr. Jose Hernandez Avenue.”
Rev. Jose E. Hernandez was born in Cuba and on the age of eight moved to Miami together with his household. By way of a sequence of life experiences, he devoted his life to serving God when he was seventeen years previous.
In 1981 he was chosen because the Chaplain for Metro Dade Corrections & Rehabilitation Division. Rev. Hernandez was promoted from Chaplain to Non secular Coordinator for the Metro Dade Corrections & Rehabilitation Division in 1983. Along with his work with the County, in 1983 Dr. Hernandez based South Florida Jail Ministries and The Agape Community.
Along with South Florida Jail Ministries, Dr. Hernandez has based different community-oriented applications together with a multiethnic, non-denomination motion entitled “We’re One” and, the Agape Community, a nationally accredited neighborhood well being heart and residential restoration for feminine substance abusers. Dr. Hernandez has served as Agape’s Govt Director since its starting in 1984. Agape has grown to 6 applications all through Dade County serving weekly over 1,500 people and households.

Dr. Hernandez has obtained nationwide recognition from the Nationwide Affiliation of Counties for his work with the jail ministries, has served as Co-Chair for the spiritual job pressure to rebuild South Dade church buildings, a “We Will Rebuild” committee. Presently Dr. Hernandez serves on the boards of a number of neighborhood companies together with Miami Coalition for a Drug Free Neighborhood which he Co-Chaired with Rabbi Schift.
