Beginning Tuesday, September 16, Broward County’s Freeway and Bridge Upkeep Division (HBMD) will start scour safety tasks on three movable bridges spanning the New River: the SW 4th Avenue Bridge, SE third Avenue Bridge, and Andrews Avenue Bridge.
The work includes putting in supplies to stabilize the riverbed and shield bridge foundations from erosion, addressing scour-critical situations flagged in latest Florida Division of Transportation inspections. Officers say the undertaking will safeguard the long-term stability of the bridges.
