
MIAMI – The Miami Broward Carnival Host Committee extends its heartfelt sympathies to the household, pals, and family members of Joey Ng Wai, who handed away yesterday on the age of 54 after battling pneumonia. A musical director, gifted guitarist, and the visionary behind Imij and Firm (identified initially as Second Imij), Joey was a real icon within the Caribbean music trade.
Since 1992, Second Imij has been an integral a part of Miami Carnival, bringing the infectious power and rhythms which have outlined our celebration for many years. His extraordinary expertise and unwavering ardour for music left an indelible mark on our neighborhood.
“Joey’s passing is an incredible loss to the Miami Carnival household and the broader Caribbean diaspora. His music uplifted and united us, and his contributions to our tradition are immeasurable. We are going to perpetually cherish his legacy and the enjoyment he delivered to so many. Relaxation in peace, pricey good friend,” stated Joan Hinkson Justin, – Chair of the Miami Broward Carnival Host Committee.
Joey Ng Wai’s spirit will dwell on via the numerous lives he touched together with his music and dedication. He will likely be deeply missed.
