Oranjestad, Statia – A brand new initiative to strengthen governance within the Caribbean Netherlands has formally launched, offering tailor-made assist for directors in Bonaire, Statia, and Saba.
Developed in partnership with the Dutch Ministry of the Inside and Kingdom Relations (BZK), the programme gives coaching, mentorship, and strategic steerage to key authorities officers. In December 2024, Island Governors John Soliano (Bonaire), Alida Francis (Sint Eustatius), and Jonathan Johnson (Saba) signed agreements with State Secretary Zsolt Szabó to mark the programme’s official launch.
Coaching Periods
Statia’s Island Governor, Alida Francis, emphasised the significance of the initiative, stating:
“The coaching for Governors, Island Council members, Commissioners, Registrars, and Island Secretaries will allow all events to successfully fulfil their tasks throughout the authorities construction. Internet hosting the periods on the islands ensures larger participation.”
As a part of the initiative, two coaching periods are scheduled to happen on Statia on Friday, February twenty eighth, and Monday, March third. These periods, shall be delivered by a number of Dutch skilled associations, every bringing experience in governance and public administration.
