    New Guyana Permanent Rep presents credentials to Director-General of UN Office in Geneva – Caribbean Life

    The United Nations Workplace in Geneva, Switzerland mentioned on Wednesday that the brand new Everlasting Consultant of Guyana, Dr. Leslie Ramsammy, has offered his credentials to the Director-Normal Tatiana Valovaya.

    The UN Workplace mentioned that previous to his appointment, Dr. Ramsammy served as an advisor to the Minister of Well being of Guyana, and concurrently served as chair of the Presidential Fee on Prevention and Management of Non-Communicable Illness since 2020.

    Dr. Ramsammy additionally served as chair of the Georgetown Public Hospital Company since 2022.  

    As well as, the UN Workplace in Geneva mentioned Dr. Ramsammy was Minister of Agriculture of Guyana from 2011 to 2015 and Minister of Well being from 2001 to 2011. 

    “Mr. Ramsammy has intensive expertise within the discipline of public well being,” mentioned the UN Workplace, stating that he served as chairman of the Govt Board of Pan Caribbean Partnership towards HIV/AIDS, chairman of the Caribbean Group’s Council for Human and Social Growth, and chairman of the Caribbean Public Well being Company.  

    The UN Workplace in Geneva mentioned Ramsammy served as chairman of the International Fund for Inexpensive Medicines for Malaria between 2010 and 2011, and as president of the World Well being Group’s 61st World Meeting (2008-2009). 

    Ramsammy has a Ph. D diploma from St. John’s College in Queens, New York (1982), a grasp’s diploma from the identical College (1979), and a bachelor’s diploma from Tempo College in New York (1977).  

    The UN Workplace in Geneva mentioned Dr. Ramsammy was Menschel Fellow on the prestigious Harvard Faculty of Public Well being, in Massachusetts, in 2015.
