Miami Metropolis Commissioner Joe Carollo has been cleared of prison wrongdoing after a years-long investigation by the Broward State Lawyer’s Workplace into allegations of harassment, stalking, and threats in opposition to a former police chief.
In a closeout memo launched this week, the general public corruption unit concluded that the proof “didn’t rise to the extent of prison conduct” and that the state couldn’t show past an inexpensive doubt that Carollo’s actions constituted a criminal offense. The matter has now been referred to the Miami Metropolis Fee for potential additional evaluate.
Carollo, a controversial determine and former Miami mayor, had been accused of harassing the house owners of Ball & Chain, a widely known bar and lounge in Little Havana, and allegedly retaliating in opposition to former Metropolis of Miami Police Chief Artwork Acevedo.
