Toronto’s Black households are invited to rejoice the tenth anniversary of the Pre-Kindergarten Afrocentric program, an initiative supporting early studying via a culturally related lens.

Hosted by the Heart of Excellence for Black Pupil Achievement in collaboration with the Toronto District Faculty Board’s (TDSB) Early Years Division, the occasion, titled “Loving Blackness”, takes place on Saturday, February 22, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at 39 Lawrence Avenue East, Scarborough.
The occasion contains a workshop by Dr. Kerry-Ann Escayg, PhD, an Affiliate Professor of Early Childhood Schooling on the College of Nebraska at Omaha. A number one anti-racist and anti-colonial scholar, Dr. Escayg’s analysis promotes Pan-African unity and racial fairness in early childhood training. She has additionally developed an anti-racist skilled improvement program for educators and authored kids’s books reflecting Black experiences.
Attendees can even participate in interactive Afrocentric play-based studying experiences tailor-made for Black kids aged 3 to 7, incorporating storytelling, music, and culturally affirming actions.
As a part of the TDSB, the Heart of Excellence for Black Pupil Achievement continues to champion Black pupil success. This milestone occasion celebrates this system’s impression and gives households with priceless early childhood studying sources.
