Brooklyn Council Member Farah N. Louis will host Juneteenth Vacation, June 19, Juneteenth Annual Central Brooklyn Celebration & Teen Entrepreneur Expo at Brooklyn Public Library, 10 Grand Military Plaza, from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
“Come have fun Juneteenth with performances by Phresher and different organizations,” Louis, the daughter of Haitian and Bahamian immigrants, who represents the forty fifth Council District in Brooklyn, informed Caribbean Life on Tuesday.
“Take pleasure in youth entrepreneurship showcases, instructional actions, and vibrant cultural programming on the steps of the Brooklyn Public Library,” she added.
Louis stated she was “honored to hitch within the observance of Juneteenth, a day representing our historic battle and collective progress.
“Our annual recognition of the ending of slavery is proof of the advances we have now made within the significance of our emancipation,” she stated. “Our ancestors blazed a path to freedom, and it’s our accountability to hold that torch ahead by participating our younger individuals on this historical past.
“Juneteenth not solely commemorates our historical past but in addition strengthens our understanding of our tradition, and I am privileged to have the chance to allow future generations to withstand repression and work in the direction of important progress in our personal communities,” Louis continued.
