In February KUUMBA would be the password for all issues Black at Harbourfront

Harbourfront is already planning to stage an eventful February as Ontario marks Black Historical past Month (BHM) in 2024.
Earlier this week, Harbourfront introduced the return of KUUMBA, one of many metropolis’s largest and longest-running BHM festivals. Though their program isn’t but full, their proposed 2024 calendar is bigger and bolder than it was in 2023.

“KUUMBA 2024 is supported by TD Financial institution Group by the TD Prepared Dedication. The month-long multidisciplinary pageant explores the 4The keynote handle will likely be adopted by an invitation-only opening reception for the artists, sponsors, media, and quite a lot of group members,” stated Iris Nemani, the outgoing chief programming officer at Harbourfront Centre.
KUUMBA’s multidisciplinary programming embraces black tradition, range, and creativity, that includes artists from Toronto and world wide.
The occasion guarantees unforgettable moments, together with a headlining efficiency from the Canadian Queen of R&B, Jully Black and electrifying competitions from Breaking Canada. Plus, the inaugural launch of KUUMBA 365 – Harbourfront Centre’s new annual initiative commissioning works by Black artists, specializing in the disciplines of literary arts, spoken phrase, dance, and theatre.
