    Jamaica’s Thompson has bittersweet Olympics after Lyles wins 100-meter dash gold – Caribbean Life

    Jamaican Kishane Thompson was crushed out for gold by the slimmest of margins on a superbly timed lean from American Noah Lyles on August 4, for the 100-meter race on the 2024 Paris Olympics.

    Thompson was in lane 4 within the remaining and Lyles in lane seven. Thompson knew it was shut and instantly glanced on the scoreboard for a solution.

    “I did assume Thompson had it on the finish,” Lyles mentioned. “I even mentioned, ‘Bro, I feel you bought that one huge canine. After which my title popped up, and I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh, I’m superb.”

    Thompson grew to become the primary Jamaican to be on the rostrum within the males’s Olympic 100m since Bolt’s run of three straight titles in 2008, 2012 and 2016.

    “My physique language won’t present it as a result of I’m not an expressive man, however I’m glad, Thompson mentioned. “I’m tremendous grateful.”

    Thompson entered the race with the quickest time of the season. All eight sprinters had been separated by a margin of 0.12 seconds and even nearer for gold and silver.
