KINGSTON, Jamaica, CMC – The Electoral Workplace of Jamaica (EOJ) says all is in place for Nomination Day on Wednesday, forward of the upcoming by-election within the constituency of North East St. Ann on September 30.
In a launch on Monday, the EOJ mentioned it’s set to simply accept nominations from eligible candidates for the by-election.
Nominations will happen on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. on the Workplace of the Returning Officer for the constituency within the northern parish.
The EOJ says political events meaning to contest the election should be registered with the Electoral Fee of Jamaica beneath the Illustration of the Folks (Modification) Act 2014.
People wishing to contest the election who aren’t members of registered political events might achieve this as impartial candidates.
The primary opposition celebration, the Folks’s Nationwide Social gathering (PNP), is not going to contest the election; subsequently, Matthew Samuda of the governing Jamaica Labour Social gathering (JLP) is anticipated to win.
The by-election is being held following the resignation of the previous Member of Parliament, Marsha Smith.
