ST. GEORGE’S, Grenada, CMC – Public Officers in Grenada, please be reminded that any violation of the part of the Public Service guidelines of 1969, which prohibits you from making public feedback that may probably convey the service into disrepute, will lead to severe penalties.
Part 60 sub part (1) of the Public Service guidelines says, “An officer shall not, with out permission of the Everlasting Secretary or Head of Division, broadcast on the radio or tv or publish in every other method any assertion which can fairly be considered being within the nature of a private touch upon any nationwide, native, political or administrative matter until his official duties require him to take action.”
A current round, which all public officers are required to learn and signal, has dropped at gentle the problem of social media posts that some officers have made, which have the potential to convey the general public service into disrepute.
“On this regard, I’ve been directed by the Fee to advise public officers to keep away from making posts on social media which might fairly be decided to be of a nature which is able to convey each themselves and the general public service into disrepute,” the round said.
Addressed to the Secretary of the Cupboard, Everlasting Secretaries, and Heads of Division, the round mentioned, “The fee thus at this second requests all public officers to be accountable of their pronouncements made through social media and different broadcast media.”
“Consequent to this round, the Fee will take motion as deemed applicable ought to it’s dropped at its consideration that officers by their posts have introduced each themselves and the general public service into disrepute,” the round said.
