    Gibson hosts annual Bronx Iftar Dinner Dialogue – Caribbean Life

    Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson on Thursday joined NYC Votes, Metroplus Well being, ICNA Aid, the African Advisory Council, Fouta Halal Eating places, Muslim advocates, religion leaders and neighborhood companions for the annual Bronx Iftar Dinner Dialogue in commemoration of the Ramadan vacation.

    New York Metropolis Public Advocate Jumaane Williams; chair of the Bronx Borough President`s African Advisory Council, Sidiki Donzo; and NYPD Clergy Outreach Unit Detective Mohamed Amen supplied remarks, together with different outstanding neighborhood leaders, within the Rotunda of Bronx Borough Corridor.

    Council Member Yusef Salaam, whose council district in West Harlem has many Muslim residents, served because the keynote speaker, and the Bronx Islamic Middle’s Government Director, Yahay Obeid, served as grasp of ceremonies.

    “It was an honor to affix our Muslim neighborhood in fellowship at Bronx Borough Corridor as we celebrated Ramadan at our Annual Iftar Dinner Dialogue and Dialog,” mentioned Bronx Borough President Vanessa L.     The honorees whom the Borough president acknowledged had been Zara Kandic, a volunteer with “Collective Work of Sisters”; Selma Mujovic, each trainer and secretary on the Bosniak Islamic Middle and director of “Collective Work of Sisters”; Yahay Obeid, government director of the Bronx Islamic Middle, and Air Site visitors Controller with the Federal Aviation Administration; and Gbenga Subair, founding member of the Mayor’s NYC African Council, who can be a member of Neighborhood Board 12’s Financial Committee.

    Additionally, Ramatu Ahmed, founder and government director of the African Life Middle, was honored.

    “Each New Yorker, regardless of the place they’re from, what neighborhood they dwell in, and what language they converse, ought to be capable to interact meaningfully in our native democracy,” mentioned SeQuoia King, outreach supervisor, NYC Votes. “Throughout Ramadan, a season of neighborhood and collective care, NYC Votes is honored to companion with the Bronx Borough President’s Workplace to offer schooling about upcoming elections and assist members of the Neighborhood Iftar get registered to vote.
