    Conch Shell International Film Festival, highlighting Caribbean filmmakers, coming to Forest Hills this October – QNS

    An upcoming movie competition will showcase a few of the finest unbiased filmmakers, writers and administrators from the Caribbean diaspora.  

    Hosted by Conch Shell Productions, a Queens-based nonprofit aimed toward amplifying the voices of Caribbean filmmakers, the third annual Conch Shell International Film Festival will run from Thursday, Oct. 10, to Sunday, Oct. 13. Stay screenings will happen on the Regal UA Halfway Cinema in Forest Hills, situated at 108-22 Queens Blvd. 

    The main target of this yr’s competition is movies that awaken, that includes numerous unbiased and pupil filmmakers of Caribbean descent from world wide, together with america, Canada, France, Haiti, Guadeloupe, Dominica, Jamaica and Puerto Rico. Artists from Trinidad and Tobago, Puerto Rico, Curacao, Barbados and different Caribbean nations may even be highlighted. Occasions embrace a pink carpet occasion, workshops, panels and trade pitch periods for attendees. Unproduced scripts may even be spotlighted throughout the movie competition. This yr’s competition submissions doubled from earlier years and can embrace a lineup of narrative, experimental and documentary brief movies. 

    Jury Award winners shall be introduced throughout the Award Ceremony on Sunday, Oct. 13.  The Viewers Alternative Award winner shall be introduced on Oct. 22 following on-line video-on-demand viewers screening and voting.

    Magaly Colimon-Christopher, founding father of Conch Shell Productions and director of the movie competition, mentioned the occasion is a reunion for artists and attendees. “Conch Shell Worldwide Movie Fest brings collectively followers of Caribbean tradition with trade specialists and creatives from world wide for 4 days of screenings, enlightening panels and workshops, gatherings and worthwhile networking alternatives. We’re delighted to spotlight rising filmmakers and produce a variety of empowering tales to our viewers,” Colimon-Christopher mentioned in a press release.
