The US Coast Guard says the crew of the Cutter Margaret Norvell on Wednesday offloaded greater than 2,450 kilos of cocaine in Miami, Florida, with an assessed road worth of about US$32.2 million (J$4.9 billion), seized within the Caribbean Sea.
The Coast Guard stated its crews intercepted the unlawful drug throughout two separate instances.
“Because of the super efforts of the Coast Guard crews and company companions concerned with this interdiction, Coast Guard Cutter Margaret Norvell introduced these suspected smugglers and illicit contraband ashore for prosecution,” stated Lieutenant Commander Colin Weaver.
“Coast Guard crews proceed to ship on our vital missions of homeland and maritime safety to avoid wasting lives and thwart transnational prison organizations working within the Caribbean,” he added, disclosing that the US Coast Guard Cutters Richard Dixon and Dauntless, in addition to the Joint Interagency Job Power South, have been concerned within the interdictions.
The US Coast Guard stated six suspected smugglers have been apprehended and can face prosecution in United States federal courts by the US Division of Justice.
