    CLACC-C showcases pre-World Steel Pan Day celebration – Caribbean Life

    The Brooklyn-based Carlos Lezama Archives and Caribbean Cultural Middle (CLACC-C) says will probably be showcasing a pre-World Metal Pan Day celebration on Saturday, Aug. 10, on the Brooklyn Bridge Park, Pier 1, downtown Brooklyn, from 3:00 p.m. to eight:00 p.m.

    CLACC-C mentioned on Wednesday that the occasion will spotlight, amongst others, Pan Evolution Metal Orchestra, Eruption Metal Orchestra, Metro Metal Orchestra, and a particular efficiency by Earl Brooks, Jr. & Firm.

    “My father Carlos Lezama was a metal pan musician when metal pan wasn’t a preferred and acceptable instrument to play,” Yolanda Lezama Clark, CLACC-C president and former president of the Brooklyn-based West Indian American Day Carnival Affiliation (WIADCA), organizer of the grand West Indian Carnival Parade on Labor Day, on Jap Parkway, Brooklyn, advised Caribbean Life. Her late father was a founding member and president of WIADCA. 

    “Right now, it’s held excessive and acknowledged worldwide,” added Lezama Clark, referring to the metal pan. “I’m so glad that CLACC-C is ready to companion with the Brooklyn Bridge Conservancy in our pre-celebration of World Metal Pan Day. My dad can be proud.” 

    Lezama Clark’s daughter, Leah Clark Brisard, a CLACC-C government and registered nurse, additionally advised Caribbean Life that the group is “excited to share this FREE monumental event with not solely the metal pan fraternity however with the group at giant.

    “Our mission is to develop, promote and protect Caribbean tradition and historical past, and we accomplish this mission by way of our youth by way of youth-based packages,” she added. 

    In 2023, the United Nations designated Aug. 11 as World Metal Pan Day. 

    Lezama Clark mentioned CLACC-C, on Aug. 10, pays homage to Caribbean tradition with the pre-World Metal Pan Day celebration. 

    She mentioned CLACC-C, which was based in 2005, “supplies historic, social and cultural info on the varied dimensions of Caribbean life.”
