The announcement was made by Panama’s President José Raúl Mulino, who mentioned the regional summit was deliberate for Panama. Nonetheless, the change of venue coincides with the swearing-in ceremony of Dominican President Luis Abinader for his second time period, which many regional leaders will attend.
Mulino revealed that six to seven presidents had already confirmed their attendance for the summit in Panama. Nonetheless, given that almost all of those leaders shall be within the Dominican Republic for Abinader’s inauguration, Mulino urged holding the assembly there, with Abinader’s permission.
