GEORGETOWN, Guyana, CMC—The regional Financial Partnership Settlement (EPA) Implementation Unit is conducting a week-long capacity-building program for The Bahamas’ Director of Commerce and Trade, Brichell Pinder, as a part of its ongoing help to Member States in implementing the Caribbean Discussion board of African Caribbean and Pacific States (CARIFORUM)-European Union (EU) EPA.
Pinder will take part within the Nationwide EPA Coordinator Attachment Programme from January 27 to 31, which is organized by the CARIFORUM Directorate inside the Caribbean Group (CARICOM) Secretariat.
Through the week-long attachment, the official will study concerning the operations of the EPA Implementation Unit and can interact with the Director-Basic and specialists in Commerce in Items, Funding and Commerce in Providers, and EPA Growth Cooperation.
Moreover, she’s going to work together with officers from the CARICOM Secretariat’s Directorates of International and Group Relations, Financial Integration, Innovation and Growth, and Human and Social Growth to know their roles in regional integration.
This initiative, funded by the eleventh European Growth Fund Technical Cooperation Facility, goals to reinforce Member States’ capability to successfully implement the EPA and leverage CARIFORUM’s commerce relationship with the European Union.
Since its inception in 2024, commerce officers from St. Kitts and Nevis, Suriname, and Guyana have participated on this program.
