— The College of the West Indies (UWI) is happy to announce Professor Canute Thompson’s appointment as Professional Vice-Chancellor for the Board of Undergraduate Research. Efficient October 1, 2024, he’ll take the helm of the Workplace of the Board for Undergraduate Research (OBUS).
On this new function, Professor Thompson has accountability for driving coverage improvement and implementation for high quality assurance and regionalism throughout all undergraduate and sub-degree programming at The UWI and its regional and international associates.
Canute Thompson is a Professor of instructional coverage, planning and management who serves as Director of the Caribbean Centre for Instructional Planning (CCEP) and was the Challenge Director, UWI Governance Advice and Implementation Committee from 2022 to 2024.
Professor Thompson holds a Physician of Philosophy diploma with excessive commendation in Instructional Administration and Management and a Postgraduate Diploma in Administration Research from The UWI, a Grasp of Arts (with honours) from the Eden Theological Seminary and a Bachelor of Arts (with honours) from The UWI. He additionally earned a Certificates in Instructional Sector Planning from the Worldwide Institute for Instructional Planning; and a Administration Guide Worldwide Certificates from the Council of Administration Consulting Institutes. His work as a management coach and administration guide has included initiatives with UNESCO, UNICEF, the Inter-American Growth Financial institution (IDB), Organisation of Jap Caribbean States (OECS), and the Authorities of Jamaica.
His publication document contains seven single-authored books, one co-authored monograph, 4 co-edited books, seven ebook chapters and twenty journal articles. Regionally and internationally, he has additionally delivered over thirty convention and particular shows and has had over 200 newspaper articles printed.
All through his tutorial service, Professor Thompson has supervised six doctoral candidates and twenty-six Masters of Training college students. He’s the founding President of the Jamaica Chapter, Caribbean Institute of Licensed Administration Consultants, a former Ministry of Training Consultant on the College Council of Jamaica, a former Chair of the Advisory Board of the Passport, Immigration and Citizenship Company (PICA) and a former Board Member of the Council of Group Faculties in Jamaica. His worldwide affiliations embrace membership within the American Instructional Analysis Affiliation, the Worldwide Society of Instructional Planning, and the Philosophy of Training Society of North America.
Professor Thompson’s scholarly contributions and talent to offer distinctive insights on points within the area of schooling are extensively revered.
