    Canarsie Lions commemorate 9/11 anniversary – Caribbean Life

    Brooklyn Canarsie Lions Membership on Sunday joined different Lions golf equipment and the Newton Basis in commemorating the 22nd anniversary of the terrorist assaults on the USA.

    “I want to thank the Newton Basis and its President Judith Newton for permitting me converse on behalf of the Brooklyn Canarsie Lions Membership,” stated Jean Joseph, the Dominican-born president of the Brooklyn Canarsie Lions, in addressing a solemn ceremony at Seaview Park, in Canarsie, Brooklyn, organized by the Newton Basis, in marking the 9/11 assaults.

    “I acknowledge the Lions from the Brooklyn Canarsie Lions Membership and all Lions current right here immediately,” she added. “Let’s give a welcoming hand for the Lions Thanks for being right here.”

    Joseph, an authorized public accountant (CPA) by coaching, stated 9/11 was “a tragic interval within the lifetime of our metropolis, our nation and the world.

    “It was a horrific day for hundreds of individuals; hundreds of lives had been misplaced within the falling of the World Commerce Heart and the flights that had been hijacked on that unhappy day,” stated Joseph, disclosing that she personally suffered a misplaced in her household.

    Her nephew, Fitzroy St. Rose, additionally perished that day.

    “I can recall Fitzroy calling his mom within the midst of the burning tower and describing the scenario to her,” Joseph stated. “His final phrases to his mom had been, and I quote ‘I really feel the ground opening from below me, because the metallic door behind me was closing. I hear a voice calling my title ‘Fitzroy, Fitzroy, Fitzroy.’

    “He informed his mom he might really feel the warmth coming from below the ground,” she added. “He sadly informed his mom, ‘I need to go.’ His mom began to cry. Fitzroy informed his mom, ‘Please don’t cry for me; you can be okay.’

    “We’re right here to honor the courageous people who gave their lives courageously to avoid wasting others and the lives misplaced within the aftermath of this tragedy, to honor those that are nonetheless alive, as heroes,”  Joseph continued. “I wish to thank the Newton Basis; I might additionally prefer to thank the Brooklyn Canarsie Lions Golf equipment and all different Lions for being right here immediately in honor of 9/11. We Will By no means Neglect!”
