SOUTH FLORIDA – Being the kid of a reggae legend, Cen’C Love is conscious the favored perception is that her music should be just like the legendary Bunny Wailer, her father. She doesn’t subscribe to that notion.
“No, I’m not a reggae artist, I’m an artist. Like, I’m not African American, I’m American,” stated the singer/songwriter.
Cen’C Love reveals a choice for mixing genres on Habibi, her newest music which was lately launched. She produced it, in addition to performed guitar, keyboards and percussion.
It’s the lead single from Elephant, her second EP, which is scheduled for launch in early October. A Little Extra Time, her first EP, got here out in 2008.
“Elephant is a three-song mission. It’s like a reintroduction, loads of drum and bass. Identical traditional crossover vibe,” Cen’C Love disclosed.
Though Habibi is her first solo music in a while, she shares the mic with drummer/singer Paul Kastick on Is This Love, a remake of a large 1987 hit single by rock band Whitesnake, that was launched on August 8.
Declaring that the break from the music enterprise was deliberate, Cen’C Love added such interludes will not be distinctive.
“I’m identified for retaining a low profile, however I’m at all times working. I’ve been extra targeted on manufacturing and music composition (however) simply now getting again to recording and releasing music. It’s been a tremendous expertise,” she stated.
Born in Florida, Cen’C Love credit Bunny Wailer, who died in 2021, for a musical consciousness that may be heard on her earlier songs. She stated he inspired her to be artistic and unbiased, traits she is decided to hold into future tasks.
“I’ve a lot skilled and private expertise now, in comparison with once I first got here on the scene. I need to maximize on that,” stated Cen’C Love.
