As a result of inclement climate, Broward County’s scheduled aerial mosquito spraying over elements of Southwest Ranches, Davie, Pembroke Pines, and Weston has been postponed.

The spraying, initially set for July 12-14, 2025, will now happen on Tuesday, July 15, and Wednesday, July 16, between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m., climate allowing.
The mosquito management effort targets nuisance mosquitoes often called Psorophora species or “gallinippers.” These massive, aggressive native mosquitoes usually emerge from the Everglades and are pushed into residential areas following heavy rains. Though they don’t carry illnesses like Zika or dengue, their persistent biting makes them a major nuisance.
Officers advise residents, particularly these with respiratory points, to remain indoors throughout spraying. Registered residents will obtain alerts forward of the spraying operation.
Broward Mosquito Management makes use of a mixture of backpack, truck, and aerial spraying based mostly on surveillance knowledge and public service requests. The general public can be inspired to scale back mosquito breeding grounds by eliminating standing water round their properties.
