    Bronx businessman to honor three Jamaican coaches – Caribbean Life

    Jamaican-born Bronx businessman Walford Stewart, chief govt officer of Model GOFAAH, has introduced plans to honor three outstanding Jamaican coaches, together with Jamaica Soccer Federation (JFF) Nationwide Youth Technical Director Wendell Downswell.

    Downswell shall be honored on the St. Elizabeth Technical Excessive College (STETHS) World Cup occasion (Yard vs. Overseas), scheduled for Friday, Dec. 27, 2024, on the iconic STETHS grounds in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica.

    Different honorees embody Clive “Lazza” Ledgister, a distinguished cricket coach, and Janet Burke, a devoted netball coach.

    Stewart informed Caribbean Life on Monday that Downswell was not too long ago conferred with the Order of Distinction within the Rank of Officer (OD) from the federal government of Jamaica for his excellent contribution to soccer.

    As coach of the acclaimed Reggae Boyz from 2004 to 2006, Downswell oversaw the workforce’s victory within the 2005 Caribbean Cup.

    He additionally coached the Reggae Boys to a silver medal on the 2007 Pan American Video games in Rio de Janeiro.

    “STETHS has a legacy of excellence in sports activities and a fan base accustomed to profitable. Downswell, Ledgister, and Burke will be acknowledged for his or her unwavering dedication, management, and the pivotal roles they’ve performed in growing younger athletes at STETHS,” Stewart stated.
