    Athletics Weekly names Alfred its Female Athlete of the Year – Caribbean Life

    St. Lucia’s dash queen Julien Alfred has bagged one more distinguished award as she was named the Athletics Weekly (AW) Worldwide Feminine Athlete of the 12 months for 2024.

    Alfred, who received St. Lucia’s first-ever Olympic medals on the 2024 Paris Olympics when she succeeded in successful gold within the girls’s 100 meters and silver within the 200 meters, beat out a number of different nominees, together with Belgium’s Nafi Thiam, the Netherlands’ Sifan Hassan, Kenya’s trio of Ruth Chepngetich, Religion Kipyego, and Beatrice Chebet, the USA’s Gabby Thomas and Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, and Ukraine’s Yaroslava Mahuchikh.

    Alfred, 23, had a spectacular 12 months. She additionally received gold within the 60 meters on the World Indoor Championships and the 100-meter title on the Wanda Diamond League.
