MONACO, CMC – Saint Lucian sprinter Julien Alfred, together with Jamaicans Megan Tapper and Jordan Scott, produced spectacular performances on their approach to gold medal-winning showings on the Monaco Diamond League right here on Friday.
Alfred, the ladies’s Olympic 100 metres champion, put final week’s disappointment of being overwhelmed on the Prefontaine Traditional behind her, clocking 10.79 seconds to register a cushty victory.
American Jacious Sears was a distant second in 11.02 seconds, whereas Zoe Hobbs of New Zealand grabbed bronze in 11.12 seconds.
Tapper, who not too long ago captured her fourth Jamaican title, sped to victory in a private best-tying time of 12.34 seconds within the ladies’s 100-metre hurdles to relegate Ditaji Kambundji of Switzerland to second in 12.43 seconds and the Netherlands’ Nadine Visser to 3rd in 12.56 seconds.
