Member States within the OECS are standing united within the face of the catastrophic damages brought on by Hurricane Beryl. The Authorities of Anguilla has introduced a monetary contribution of XCD $500,000 to be divided equally between Grenada and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines for hurricane reduction efforts.
In an Official Assertion launched on July 5, Premier, Dr Ellis Lorenzo Webster acknowledged:
“The catastrophic harm to Carriacou, Petit Martinique, Union Island and others reminds us of Anguilla’s plight following Hurricane Irma in 2017 and confirms that world warming and our place as Small Island Growing States within the Caribbean make us interconnected, interrelated, and mutually weak.
In Anguilla’s time of misery and want, the area stood in solidarity and got here to our help. It’s now our flip to assist our brothers and sisters within the Windward Islands. To this finish, Govt Council has permitted a monetary contribution of XCD $500,000.00 to be divided equally between Grenada and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines for hurricane reduction and restoration efforts.”
