    Braata Productions, an OBIE Award-winning, New York-based nonprofit group dedicated to giving Caribbean and Caribbean-American artistes a platform by way of which to showcase their work and abilities, will, subsequent Saturday, Aug. 9, host Bankra Caribbean Tradition Pageant at St. Albans Park (Archie Spigner Park) in Queens.

    Offered in affiliation with Sen. Leroy Comrie and Council Member Nantasha Williams, the pageant, which will likely be held from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m., guarantees “a vibrant celebration of Caribbean heritage by way of music, dance, culinary delights, and cultural expression,” the group mentioned.  

    “The Bankra Caribbean Tradition Pageant is a free, full-day occasion devoted to celebrating and preserving the wealthy traditions of Caribbean people tradition,” it added.

    Named after the enduring bankra basket – used throughout the islands to hold and show colourful items – Braata Productions mentioned the pageant provides “a full sensory expertise with over seven interactive artwork kinds.

    “Company can take pleasure in free basket weaving courses, conventional Caribbean video games, and dynamic performances from drummers, dancers, storytellers, stilt walkers, and life-sized folklore puppets,” it mentioned.

    Performers embrace Shuga (headliner); The Braata Singers (performer); Andrew Clarke (performer); Limitless Vibrationz (performer, Trinidadian Folklore Group); and Genesis Pan Groove Metal Orchestra.
