WASHINGTON, CMC – The Trump administration has congratulated Jennifer Geerlings-Simons on her election as the primary feminine President of Suriname.
“Suriname and the USA have a robust and rising partnership constructed on shared democratic values and a mutual dedication to regional stability and prosperity,” stated US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who was born in Miami to Cuban immigrants, in an announcement.
“Suriname’s efforts to advertise clear enterprise practices, uphold the rule of legislation, and strengthen democratic establishments are key elements for continued growth and long-term funding,” added the previous US Senator.
“We encourage continued US non-public sector engagement and help Suriname’s efforts to foster financial development and diversify its financial system, and restrict CCP affect,” continued Rubio, referring to the Chinese language Communist Celebration.
On Sunday, Suriname Parliament voted to elect Geerlings-Simons, 71, because the Dutch-speaking Caribbean Neighborhood (CARICOM) member state’s subsequent president.
In Suriname’s Might 25 parliamentary ballot, Geerlings-Simons’s opposition Nationwide Democratic Celebration captured 18 seats, incumbent President Chan Santokhi’s Progressive Reform Celebration gained 17 seats, and the smaller events captured the opposite 16 seats within the 51-seat Legislature.
