Jamaican dancehall star Stalk Ashley and rising Japanese artist VIGORMAN have joined forces on “Fading Away,” a robust new single that fuses dancehall, R&B, and Japanese pop influences in a daring step towards world music collaboration.
Produced by VIGORMAN, Gacha Medz, and Ashley’s longtime supervisor and producer Jaxx, “Fading Away” is the results of a virtually three-year inventive journey between the 2 artists. The monitor blends emotional storytelling with genre-bending manufacturing, highlighting the shared human expertise of affection, distance, and vulnerability.
Stalk Ashley commented, “I feel it’s actually essential for Jamaicans to safe worldwide collaborations and preserve pushing the tradition ahead. We’re cherished all around the world—such a small island with such an enormous influence.”
The connection started in 2022 when VIGORMAN visited Jamaica and expressed his admiration for Ashley’s music. Upon returning to Japan, the artists remained in touch and commenced creating the monitor remotely, navigating time zones and artistic exchanges throughout continents.
VIGORMAN said, “This wasn’t nearly singing. It was about constructing a motion—creating one thing that connects two cultures and lays the groundwork for extra collaboration.”
The music video, directed by acclaimed Jamaican filmmaker Shane Inventive (444), premiered at an unique listening get together in Kingston on June 26, that includes dwell performances from each artists and a particular DJ set by Silent Addy, recognized for the Billboard-charting hit “Shake It To The Max (FLY)”. This launch marks VIGORMAN’s first official collaboration with a global artist and his first dwell efficiency in Jamaica.
Ashley added, “I used to be shocked to learn the way deep the love for dancehall runs in Japan. Even with a language barrier, the music nonetheless connects us. That’s highly effective to witness and be part of.”
