The Guyana Ministry of Housing and Water – Central Housing and Planning Authority (CHPA) has firmly rejected claims circulating on social media suggesting that Venezuelan nationals have been granted entry to housing within the new improvement at Little and Nice Diamond, East Financial institution Demerara.
Setting the report straight, the ministry acknowledged: “All allottees throughout the Diamond Housing Scheme are Guyanese.”
In accordance with the official launch, “not a single home lot or turnkey unit within the space has been allotted to non-Guyanese.” The Ministry emphasised that land allocation is “strictly reserved for people who’re legally acknowledged as Guyanese in accordance with the legal guidelines of Guyana.”
The Diamond Housing Scheme was established to relocate former squatters who had beforehand occupied river dam areas in Herstelling, Covent Backyard, Prospect, Farm, Diamond, Grove, and Friendship. In whole, 291 squatter households have been recognized, and 228 households have since been relocated to accommodate tons or government-constructed properties.
