    Martinique celebrates acclaimed filmmaker Euzhan Palcy at Metrograph NYC on Friday – Caribbean Life

    The Martinique Tourism Authority (MTA) says it’s celebrating a particular cinematic showcase honoring the trailblazing work of Martinican filmmaker Euzhan Palcy this Friday, April 4 at Metrograph Theater in New York Metropolis.

    MTA stated on Friday that the occasion, titled “Director Matches x Metrograph: Euzhan Palcy X2,” options back-to-back screenings of two of Palcy’s most beloved movies: Her 1992 Caribbean musical “Siméon” and her landmark 1989 anti-apartheid drama “A Dry White Season,”

    “Each screenings might be accompanied by in-person appearances by Palcy, providing New York audiences a uncommon alternative to have interaction instantly with one in all Martinique’s most pioneering cinematic voices,” MTA stated.

    It stated the night’s Q&A might be moderated by Hagop Kourounian, whose Instagram account @DirectorFits is devoted to exploring the private model of filmmakers.

    MTA stated Kourounian lately profiled Palcy within the A24-published quantity, “How Administrators Costume”, describing her as a director whose work, “like her private directing uniform, instructions your consideration.”
