The Joint Communiqué establishing diplomatic relations was signed on December 16, on the Everlasting Mission of Côte d’Ivoire to the United Nations (UN) by Ambassador Brian Wallace, Everlasting Consultant of Jamaica to the UN, and Ambassador Tiémoko Moriko, Everlasting Consultant of Côte d’Ivoire to the UN.
The newly cast relationship with the West African nation aligns with the island’s broader overseas coverage technique of increasing engagement with non-traditional companions, significantly in Africa.
Each Jamaica and Côte d’Ivoire will search to leverage this partnership to advertise financial diplomacy via commerce and funding, tourism, cultural change, and different mutually useful areas to advance South-South cooperation.
