KINGSTON, Jamaica, CMC – The Dominican Republic’s Ambassador to Jamaica, Angie Martínez, has commemorated the Father of the Nation, Juan Pablo Duarte, via unprecedented patriotic occasions.
These acts marked the sixtieth anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Dominican Republic and Jamaica. They included the revealing of the primary bust of Duarte in Jamaica, the institution of an area department of the Duartiano Institute, and a keynote lecture by its president, Dr. Wilson Gómez Ramírez, titled “Duarte, the Structure, and the Nationwide Symbols.”
The disclosing ceremony, which occurred on the Dominican Republic’s Official Residence on December 15, featured the elevating of the Dominican flag by Jamaican Defence Forces officers and the singing of the nationwide anthem.
Ambassador Martínez and Dr. Gómez led a solemn tribute, together with a floral wreath-laying and the revealing of Duarte’s sculpture.
Diplomats, worldwide representatives, native authorities, and members of the Dominican neighborhood in Jamaica attended the occasion.
Martínez highlighted the historic significance of bringing Duarte’s beliefs to Jamaican soil, emphasizing the occasion as a milestone in bilateral relations and a reinforcement of Dominican identification overseas.
Gómez praised establishing a Duartiano presence in Jamaica, enabling ongoing tributes to Dominican heritage.
The ceremony concluded with the swearing-in of the primary board of the Duartiano Institute’s Jamaica department, which goals to advertise Duarte’s legacy among the many Dominican diaspora.
