    IPL franchises snapped up Rutherford, Shepherd, and Powell – Caribbean Life

    West Indies teammates Sherfane Rutherford, Romario Shepherd, and Rovman Powell had been all chosen by franchises on the second day of the 2025 IPL Mega Public sale in Saudi Arabia.

    In the meantime, different West Indians, similar to Alzarri Joseph, Brandon King, Akeal Hosein, Shai Hope, Kyle Mayers, and Roston Chase, all went unsold.

    The 26-year-old Rutherford secured the most important payday of US$317,000 after being picked up by the Gujarat Titans.

    Rutherford entered the public sale with a base value of US$182,000 and was concerned in an intense bidding conflict between the Mumbai Indians and the Titans.

    The Mumbai Indians began the bidding at US$243,000 earlier than the Titans countered with a bid of US$268,000. Mumbai responded with a bid of US$292,000 earlier than the Titans returned with their successful bid.

    Rutherford made 10 appearances within the IPL, seven for the Delhi Capitals in 2019 and three for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2022, scoring 106 runs in 9 innings at a median of 15.14.

    He was additionally part of the Mumbai Indians, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Kolkata Knight Riders.

    Shepherd, however, was chosen by the Royal Challengers Bangalore for US$182,000, whereas Powell, the West Indies T20I captain, went to the Kolkata Knight Riders for a similar value.

    The Lucknow Tremendous Giants matched the Mumbai Indians bid of US$91,000 for pacer Shamar Joseph.
