    Brooklyn Canarsie Lions hold successful Masquerade Ball – Caribbean Life

    Brooklyn Canarsie Lions Membership on Sunday hosted a really profitable Masquerade Ball on the Paerdegat Yacht Membership in Canarsie, Brooklyn, that includes masks, costumes, drummers and DJ music, amongst others.

    “We got here collectively as soon as once more as a neighborhood of household, mates, colleague and supporters to commemorate the third anniversary of our Masquerade Ball,” President Jean Joseph, a Dominican-born licensed public accountant, informed Caribbean Life afterwards.

    “This event highlighted beautiful masks and costumes that mirrored the characters they portrayed, leading to a night brimming with pleasure and leisure,” added Joseph, who was adorned in a Dominican cultural outfit on the occasion.

    “Moreover, we took this chance to acknowledge our honorees, whereas additionally elevating funds for our various neighborhood initiatives,” she continued.

    Antiguan-born drummer Hyacinth Meade, a member of the Brooklyn-based Rhythm Blue Drummers, who eclipsed Josesph in successful the Masquerade Competitors, was elated in victory.

    “It’s nice! I like the drums,” she informed Caribbean Life afterwards. “It’s nice to win. It reveals that folks do admire me and what I do.”

    Kamla Millwood, a member of the Brooklyn Canarsie Lions Membership, who served as Mistress of Ceremonies, thanked Joseph for “placing on a fabulous occasion.

    “At present, Nov. 3, we loved an unforgettable afternoon stuffed with thriller, music and mingling,” stated the creator of youngsters’s books. “Visitors got here dressed of their greatest costumes and indulged in improbable meals, nice fellowship, and superb music from our DJ and a dwell drumming band.”

    Millwood additionally expressed “heartfelt thanks” to Council Member Farah N. Louis, a fellow Brooklyn Canarsie Lion, consultant for the 45th Council District in Brooklyn, “for attending, bringing her heat greetings, and presenting an award to the distinguished Dr. Nelson King.

    Her presence and help meant a lot to us,” Millwood added. “Thanks, Council Member Louis! Thanks to Amar Dyal for attending, president of the Brooklyn Midwood  Lions Membership.”

    Louis, the daughter of Haitian and Bahamian immigrants, informed Caribbean Life that she was “really honored to be part of the fantastic Masquerade Ball to have fun neighborhood, service, and the outstanding people who proceed to form our neighborhoods.

    Brooklyn-based, Grenadian-born DJ Bob Cat, whose actual title is Lyndon Henry, offered Caribbean vibes to masqueraders and patrons.
